Garden

Garden is a wood tree standing erect
As if it is alive and pretending to life,
Hosting evening birds chatting away
With slum kids playing street cricket.

Garden is my mom reading in  swing
From a life’s pages that would be ice,
A fire’s ashes and the river’s waters,
And  death’s fragrance remembered.
